Public bug reported: Synaptic incorrectly attempts to use pkexec when launched under the XDG- recognized Trinity Desktop Environment. There is an override already present in Synaptic for KDE users in the file /usr/share/applications /synaptic-kde.desktop; simply adding another copy of that file named /usr/share/applications/synaptic-tde.desktop with the KDE keys contained therein changed to TDE would fix this issue. Furthermore /usr/share/applications/synaptic.desktop needs to have ";TDE" appended to the NotShowIn line.
As precedent for special treatment has already been set for KDE I see no reason why this could not be done for TDE as well.
