Public bug reported:

Since upgrading to Ubuntu 14.10, I can no longer send or receive
messages with Empathy.

Attempting to send a message by double-clicking on a contact no longer
opens up a chat window.

Received messages get displayed in a message box on the desktop with a
"Telephony Service Indicator" title.
