Perhaps it was low quality metadata from FreeDB then? As far as providing more fuzzy matching goes, the online album art provided by the thumbnailer is hitting an in-house service. Perhaps it is the best place to do this sort of thing (so it can cache the result, and avoid extra round trips, etc)? It will depend on what capabilities 7digital exposes exactly though (what our service uses).
