I installed 3.18 and when the restart had completed I had lost the cursor. The unity launcher bar would change as I moved the mouse but I could not see the pointer only an icon would initialize. I could not move the pointer to make any selections so I restarted and selected 3.16 in the grub menu. I still have 3.18 installed but will have use 3.16 in order to function for the present time.
Since I rise veery early the first thing I run is sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade and as you probably know already the update for the kernel 3.16.23 was included in the daily updates and installed okay. I still have not had the problem with logging on that was reported and you wrote to me on Oct 21. This probably is not much help to you but please let me know what I can do next, okay? -- May God Bless Your Day!
