October 24, 2014 -- tried again to load Ubuntu updates through softerware updater -- once again the same error message and same problem. I guess I might as well go back to MS Windows -- I'm not going to reload Linux Ubuntu and lose all the programs I've loaded without knowing that this issue is resolved. VERY VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED with Linux Ubuntu!!!
