hmm, I spoke too soon. There is more going on. NetworkManager also for
some reason spawns 'ip route flush', and if that is still running at the
moment of the pccardctl eject, the system is still stuck. This is a
subtle race condition it seems. My fix became a bit more elaborate (and
ugly), can someone fix this better?
