Any fix for this yet? Roughly three years later and still we are having the same issues with MythTV Backend / Upstart. Myth is now at version 0.27.4 and Ubuntu is at 13.10 (Saucy Salamander) and 14.04 (Trusty Tahr) Apparently this is an issue that got placed on the back burner since MythTV is not an integral part of the operation of Ubuntu. But, if this has led to it being an issue with Upstart, is there a reason it has not been fixed with the newer releases of Ubuntu?
Let's put things into perspective here, the normal user that has just enough knowledge with Linux to install something via the terminal probably does not know how to install some of these patches that get listed in the Bugs section. Is it at all possible to make it easier for those that don't know how to patch a program or broken part of Ubuntu and maybe post a script to do the patching for them? And yes, I do understand that there are many applications/programs written for Ubuntu and it is hard to check every application/program, but if it is posted as a bug then maybe follow through to fruition with that bug before a new release of Ubuntu if it is an issue within the distro?
