Thanks everyone for narrowing it down to this patch. The root issue appears to be that 132 modifies the ABI just slightly, which is fine for open source drivers since they are rebuilt, but for closed source drivers like -nvidia (and presumably others??) it leads to this crash.
The background on patch 132 is that it's necessary for Ubuntu Mobile, as without it the home apps get clipped and can't be seen, making the mobile UI unavailable. So dropping this patch would have an unfortunate impact on UME; I'm hoping a better all-around solution can be found within the next week or two. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High Status: Confirmed => In Progress -- [nvidia-glx-new] 3D GL apps crash X when using compiz (gutsy) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/130325 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
