Public bug reported:

When using gedit on the 32 or 64 bit version of Ubuntu 14.10 pressing
CTRL+C to copy text will cause the mouse cursor to disapear until gedit
is restarted or the document is saved. Copying and pasting using right
click does not cause the issue. I've experienced this issue on multiple
computers with vastly different hardware. One computer is using
proprietary nVidia drivers and the others are not.
