We choose the compiler to do glibc based on a small pile of things, including test results from the testsuite, speed, and features. Sometimes it'll go ahead of the pack, sometimes it will trail behind.
The idea is that glibc is pretty much the one thing that if you get it wrong, everything else breaks. Because of that we treat it specially. Please note that this bug is still marked "invalid".
