** Description changed: When gnome-settings-daemon or unity-settings-daemon are not installed, feh is run using one of a handful of predefined wallpapers. However, while it appears to run correctly, as it flashes up the background briefly, the actual installer has just a black screen. It seems like the feh invokation needs to be later after the Ubiquity installer has started. + + This behaviour was noticed when using XFCE, so xfwm and xfsettingsd are + running. Perhaps it is caused by the xsetroot invokation, which occurs + after the feh invokation?
