According to the ioprio_set manpage, a process needs the CAP_SYS_ADMIN capability to select the IOPRIO_CLASS_IDLE scheduling class.
Quote: " Attempts to set very high priorities (IOPRIO_CLASS_RT) or very low ones (IOPRIO_CLASS_IDLE) require the CAP_SYS_ADMIN capability." I don't understand why a process should need admin privileges to lower its resource requirements, but it seems to be the case. Hope this helps. -- trackerd should be run with ionice -c 3 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/138249 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
