This also affects me! Here's a simple test case for someone who doesn't own a hi-dpi screen, but does have a 1920x1080 monitor. Use this image as your background: http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w204/chopin952/Test%20Patterns/Halftone1080p.png Continue to scale it up and keep looking at the background. Once it hits 2, it becomes a grey blur instead of the correct pattern. If you have the desktop background set to center instead of scale or zoom or whathaveyou, then once it hits two, it will be zoomed in and centered.
(If it's difficult to see around the Display window, remember Alt + F7 is your friend.) I'm assuming this is because more things scale once you select an even number. For example, if you change from 1 to 1.88, most of the buttons, sliders, and checkboxes stay the same size (although the fonts get bigger). But once you jump from 1.88 to 2, the buttons, sliders, and checkboxes suddenly decide to increase in size. By the way don't think this bug report is really the right place to say this, but the slider... ticky thingy and the checkboxes don't scale well. Also of note, is if you press the Print Screen button and check the image dimensions, they're 960x540 instead of 1920x1080 (which is half if math isn't your strong suit). Obviously, this feature is sort of a work in progress. And I (sorta) understand that Unity is still a graphical shell on top of the GNOME desktop environment so understanding where all this belongs and who's responsible for resizing what can be a mess. So good luck I guess. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1324278 Title: Background image becomes blurry when scale for menu and title bar option is set to 2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1324278/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
