"The default behaviour of the address bar when you type a word and click enter,
really depends on your DNS settings. If you use OpenDNS for instance, as I do,
you will not be reidrected to Google, and many providers use this kind of DNS
redirection. If you want to make a Google search for the expression you
inserted, you have to select the corresponding Smart Bookmark in the dropdown
list.

That makes me think anyway, that this is not as obvious as it should, and that
there should be an easier way to access Web Search (e.g. ship with a default
"Search the Web" smart bookmark on the toolbar, as some distribution already
does, and solve bug #337297)."

I think it would be easier, if you suscribed to gnome bts and commented
directly on the bug report. Thanks
