I agree that this error is not really an error and does not affect the DKMS 
modules at all.
I get the error when a new kernel is installed but the nvidia-331 and 
nvidia-331-uvm DKMS modules are successfully built.
This can be seen when the kernel is subsequently removed and the DKMS modules 
are successfully removed.

Also, in 14.10 since it is in final release you probably want to turn off the 
bug reports as I did and I believe is customary after a version release with 
this command:
sudo sh -c 'echo "enabled=0" > /etc/default/apport'
