Public bug reported: On an older Dell laptop with a RT73 chipset wireless USB dongle, wireless works fine on boot. If I open pidgin, within 20 seconds the wireless is gone, and "dhclient wlan0" reports that there is no such device. If I cntrl-alt-F5 to tty5 its just tons of repeating messages saying "unregister_netdevice: waiting for wlan0 to become free. Usage count = 0". Rebooting will not fix it at this point, and I have to reboot, take the device out, and put it back in to connect.
This may be a problem with pidgin but I was informed it could be a problem with the networking of Gusty also. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [Tribe 5 Gusty] pidgin disconnects wireless (rt73 chipset) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/138971 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
