I think 'safe' is better than 'failsafe ' - the term 'failsafe' isn't
widely known. Also the error message needs to tell the user why there's
an error before anything else.

How about:

Your graphics hardware is not properly set up.

Click Configure to choose your monitor and graphics card, or click
Continue to use safe settings.
