However, the System Settings... -> Sound UI shows the mic as not muted.
When I tried running the alsamixer command, I saw mic and mic-boost were
both showing 0; I cranked them up to 100, but it made no difference. I
also tried re-running this command with the mic/mic-boost still set to
100 and it threw the same error.
