Hi,

The same problem here with my ASUS X550CA. Touchpad does not work AT ALL
on any recent Ubuntu version (and Mint, Debian live, Manjaro and some
other distros as well).

Cursor jumps and the system freezes for a few minutes.

However I have just tested PClinuxOS in live mode (KDE and Mate versions,
burned on DVD-RW, as Unetbootin did not work on this distro) and the touchpad
works fine for movements and clicks! (the only thing is the lack of scrolling
-vertical or two-finger scrolling).
PClinuxOS uses kernel: 3.18.1-pclos1
There's no way of changing settings for the touchpad, as only the USB mouse
gets recognised in the Control Centre...
Anyway, hope this helps some people who want the touchpad to work somehow on a
GNU/Linux distro...Thanks
