Public bug reported:
PROBLEM:
- The Ubuntu 7.04 installer does not identify correctly hard disks with
"Promise Mass storage controller PDC20265". The Motherboard is Asus "A7V".
RELATED INFORMATION:
- The hard disk with "Promise Mass storage controller PDC20265" is correctly
detected by Ubuntu 4.10, but not with the next releases. It is also correctly
detected by Knoppix 4.0.2 but not with the next releases (Knoppix 5.1.1 ,
Knoppix 5.2). That makes me think of kernel modules.
- I have checked the health of the harddisk. The health of the hard disk
is good, in fact I'm writing this booting from another partition of this
hard disk (with Windows).
- I've checked the md5sum of every Ubuntu install disks I have, and they
showed to be ok.
