I can confirm that the azureus_2.5.0.0repack1-0ubuntu1.1~proposed1 is the only working version on gutsy.
I tried java 1.5 java 6 gcj and gij without success. deleting the log files works almost till you try to open one torrent (double click) and next startup it crashes again. Also editing line 29 (JAVA_HOME) to 1 of the 4 different java environments didn't do the job either.
