Public bug reported: trying to install into an existing filesystem, contains data but no /etc or /usr et al, but apparently not quite enough space. ok, so i opened a terminal, found some things to delete, made sure not to leave the terminal inside /target but did leave the terminal open, then dismissed the dialog advising me to run the installer again. then the installer crashed.
