I just got finished going through my file associations via system settings and found exactly where it was causing issues. Your wild guess was spot on correct. I found multiple places where soundkonverter was listed in the "inode" section and it wasn't just directory for mime type. I've cleared all references to soundkonverter in the "inode" section of file association and this bug/issue can now be labeled as fixed. Though I still don't understand how soundkonverter when installed placed all the file associations under "inode" branch of the file associations, this bug is fixed otherwise.
