After experiencing this bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ofono/+bug/1449990 I also noticed that when the phone silently switches from O2-DE to o2-de+ or vice versa, the mobile data connection disappears, the symbol that appear is just the empty "angular" signal, if the screen is locked, and nothing works. If the screen is unlocked then there is no problem, it goes with the other carrier and everything is fine. The only way to have it back is to reboot, similarly to what happens here https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1435328 .
