Just the facts (I wrote an even longer bug-report and launchpad ate
it..):

ubuntu-bug asked if this was related to version update. I said no -
should I have said yes? Note, I've used update-manager a few times
without this and never happened in 12.04 and older I've used over the
years.

[Off topic?: Since maybe this time (I think I was also updating network-
manager), WiFi-network shows "no network", still there is network.. not
sure if/how it has to do with udev.]
