I join to the people recommending this: Obviously Ubuntu cannot provide serious support to LTS release. So consider alternatives: a) Move to other Ubuntu release. b) Move to Mint (they have ubuntu and debian based versions) c) Install SteamOS (the option I picked).
I had the same problem with Mandriva a long time ago. It was a signal of the company creating more drama than benefits. I waited one year for a real solution.
