@gimpsmart your e-mail is well written, but I don't believe it applies to the EXT0DB6Q for the 840 EVO.
We no longer receive the "failed to get NCQ Send/Recv Log Emask 0x1" errors with this level of firmware which implies that the log has been correctly implemented. Samsung may simply need to re-spin the firmware for your 850 Pro drive with the fix. That being said, running a large fstrim on a EXT0DB6Q drive did still show timeout similar to below " [164782.716079] ata2.00: failed command: WRITE FPDMA QUEUED [164782.716081] ata2.00: cmd 61/60:10:28:b6:c0/00:00:1e:00:00/40 tag 2 ncq 49152 out [164782.716081] res 40/00:00:00:00:00/00:00:00:00:00/00 Emask 0x4 (timeout) " It is because of these timeout errors that we decided to pull the upstream commit to disable NCQ trim on samsung SSDs.
