Thanks for replying. I have tried again and it went straight on. I set it to wipe the whole disk and liked that a lot better. The only problem I have now is I cant seem to create a shortcut to a file on the desktop, I get an 'Unsupported Action Error' and it doesn't specify any particular code.
Thanks again Ian -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Colin Watson Sent: 13 September 2006 17:06 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Bug 60076] Re: Install crashed You appear to have a problem with your hard disk; the kernel mounted it read-only upon noticing the problem, and then the installer couldn't copy files to it any more: Sep 12 13:18:39 ubuntu kernel: [17180489.460000] hda: dma_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error } Sep 12 13:18:39 ubuntu kernel: [17180489.460000] hda: dma_intr: error=0x40 { UncorrectableError }, LBAsect=28305023, sector=28305023 Sep 12 13:18:39 ubuntu kernel: [17180489.460000] ide: failed opcode was: unknown Sep 12 13:18:39 ubuntu kernel: [17180489.460000] end_request: I/O error, dev hda, sector 28305023 It's also possible that this is a kernel bug, but if the disk is getting a bit old, I'd look into getting a replacement. ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed => Rejected -- Install crashed https://launchpad.net/bugs/60076 -- No virus found in this incoming message.
