Public bug reported:
Hello, my computer is a Toshiba Satellite A100, with an ATI Mobility
Radeon X1600, 256MB DDR2. I just upgraded to Gutsy Tribe 5 from feisty,
my kernel is 2.6.22-12-386, and the restricted modules package is the
last one (2.6.22.4-12.1), however whenever I boot when xserver starts I
get a blank screen. Weird thing is that even in console mode still I get
a blank screen, however the system is responsive - I still can log in
and reboot for example (without seeing anything). My xorg.0.log seems to
be doing fine till an abrupt end where it gives a 'fatal server error:
caught signal 11 server aborting' with some backtrace lines. I'm not
sure if it's a fglrx problem or an xorg problem, and I'm not sure about
it's relation to other blank screen at startup bugs which most are dated
and seem to have been fixed with more recent drivers... Any advice
appreciated since the vesa driver does not even seem to support the
1280x800 resolution of my monitor...
