Public bug reported: == Comment: #0 - WEN BIN PAN <pa...@cn.ibm.com> - 2015-08-14 02:40:55 == I was trying to install Ubuntu 14.04.3 on kalelp3, and using multipath disk mpath0 as the installation device. The installation was successful. But after the installation when the machine reboots itself, it shows:
-------------------------- No OS image was detected by firmware. At least one disk in the bootlist was not found yet. Firmware is now retrying the entries in the bootlist. Press ctrl-C to stop retrying. -------------------------- I entered SMS and noticed that mpath0 is in the device list as item 7 and 9, but it is not set as the 1st boot device. Actually, no device is set as the 1st boot device after the installation, so FW cannot find a bootable device. -------------------------- Version FW830.00 (SV830_042) SMS (c) Copyright IBM Corp. 2000,2015 All rights reserved. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Select Device Device Current Device Number Position Name 1. - Interpartition Logical LAN ( loc=U8408.E8E.21D487V-V4-C2-T1 ) 2. - PCIe2 10GbE SFP+ SR 4-port Converged Network Adapter ( loc=U78CD.001.FZH1498-P1-C4-T1 ) 3. - PCIe2 10GbE SFP+ SR 4-port Converged Network Adapter ( loc=U78CD.001.FZH1498-P1-C4-T2 ) 4. - PCIe2 100/1000 Base-TX 4-port Converged Network Adapter ( loc=U78CD.001.FZH1498-P1-C4-T3 ) 5. - PCIe2 100/1000 Base-TX 4-port Converged Network Adapter ( loc=U78CD.001.FZH1498-P1-C4-T4 ) 6. - PCIe3 4-Port 10GbE SR Adapter ( loc=U78C7.001.053K037-P1-C4-T1-S1 ) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Navigation keys: M = return to Main Menu N = Next page of list ESC key = return to previous screen X = eXit System Management Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Type menu item number and press Enter or select Navigation key: Version FW830.00 (SV830_042) SMS (c) Copyright IBM Corp. 2000,2015 All rights reserved. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Select Device 7. - SAS 264 GB Harddisk ( loc=U78C7.001.053K037-P3-R1-L206a8fb300-L0 ) 8. - SATA CD-ROM ( loc=U78C7.001.053K037-P4-D1 ) 9. - SAS 264 GB Harddisk ( loc=U78C7.001.053K037-P3-R2-L206a8fb300-L0 ) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Navigation keys: M = return to Main Menu P = Previous page of list ESC key = return to previous screen X = eXit System Management Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Type menu item number and press Enter or select Navigation key: ------------------------------ Manually booting from item 7 shows that this is the multipath disk we installed Ubuntu on.
