Even with a simple code like:

a = ones(3,3);
figure(1);
imshow(a); % or even imshow(a,[]); octave crashes with error 4.
I've tried tollboxes from apt-get and  from forge, the problem remains.
I've installed signal, control, communications and image. Similar bug was in 
Fedora Core 22 with octave 3.8.2.
