Public bug reported: When I tried to do these most recent updates: linux-headers-2.6.20-16 linux-headers-2.6.20-16-generic linux-image-2.6.20-16-generic linux-libc-dev
and this recommended update: app-install-data-commercial My CPU usage goes to 100% and everything becomes unresponsive. If I restart the system I get dumped into the command line and am told that apt is not installed, and it tells me that the the file system is mounted read-only and that I need to run fsck on it without parameters. when I do I am presented with errors about inode blocks and I can select to fix some (only option) and to ignore some (only option) . I had this problem the last time there was a kernel update and it was eventually fixed, just by me running the update manager over and over and going through these steps, over and over. I filed a bug the last time: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /linux-source-2.6.20/+bug/137317 I am running Ubuntu Feisty 32 bit and here is the output of lshw: http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/38526/.
