I couldn't make the commit bisect work yet.

But I've realized one thing and I think it's an important one and maybe
a workaround for this issue: I booted up the laptop with no HDMI cable
connected to the HDMI output and I've tried to execute the xrandr
command and the HDMI output was there. So, I've connected the cable,
turned on the external screen and it worked fine.

So, I think that after executing the Ubuntu updates, the HDMI output is
gone only if the laptop is booted with the HDMI cable connected in the
HDMI output.

I'll try to boot the laptop with and without the HDMI cable connected to
confirm this point as soon as possible.
