OK enough complaining on my behalf
Instead some information that may help;

nemo-bugs

1 sidebar (consistent) bug

sidebar is set to be shown
sidebar is set to show places
all drop-down menus are set to show all
none are set to be collapsed
*
on a new computer start-up; when first opening nemo
*
under "Devices"
it only showed half of my partitions
all of /dev/sda
some of /dev/sdb
none of /dev/sdc
showed no scrollbar
*
I have 16 partitions to show
and usually they can be seen by scrolling down
*
temporary measure:
collapse the "My Computer" menu
and it shows all devices
then it is fine to re-open the "My Computer" menu

2 gksudo nemo getting tired

after handling a few files
copying, renaming, permission changes
it would refuse to reopen (time-out)
*
temporary measure:
use gksudo nautilus
but try to work efficiently with above - naa

3 renaming bug

progressively showing itself more frequently
when renaming words would highlight
but mouse cursor would either not move or disappear
newly typed characters would not show while typing
but would show when finalising
at it's worst renaming was either impossible
or it deleted the file !!
now that is serious
*
temporary measure:
override nemo with the hammer of Thor
nemo was only used for desktop handling

Browser related history

started with xubuntu and thunar
made one bookmark (/var/cache/apt/archives) in thunar
which ended up under "My Computer" in nemo (not a standard place for bookmarks)
xubuntu only being my starting OS I proceeded to:
*
install gnome-session-flashback
While still using nautilus made a bookmark (usr/share/icons)
which ended up under "Bookmarks" in nemo, but the ONLY one showing there?
nautilus is a dependency of gnome-session-flashback; it is not removable!
not happy with the shortcomings of nautilus decided to:
*
change over to nemo
made it the default file and desktop handler (component viewer)
but problems made me:
*
downgraded to 1.8.4
the present trusty version
no image manipulating tools work there
not happy with that fact, so:
*
mid-graded to mint Rebecca 2.4
because of cinnamon dependencies it broke compiz
and not wanting to give up compiz:
*
upgraded back to 2.6
*
used thunar for a few hours as the main browser
but lack of a lot of options we appreciate in nemo
and after below mentioned changes:
*
gave nemo another chance

Possible Solutions

1 side bar bug disappeared after:
removing the shortcuts that were made in other browsers
from then on under "Bookmarks" it showed all the usual suspects:
Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos and Downloads

2 with the fatigue bug I can't tell yet; not enough work done as a super
user

3 renaming bug seems to have gone now too
after reading the mention of ibus and
thinking of the interaction of the keyboard with the themes and
not wanting to loose my keyboard options by un-installing ibus
I installed: ibus-gtk, ibus-gtk3, ibus-qt4
also used another keyboard with USB instead of PS-4

the sidebar bug looks like an interaction of various browsers
creating havoc with the operation of nemo

the renaming bug could have to do with the keyboard

time will tell
