Hi eunix, if I understand correctly, you originally installed Ubuntu 11.10 on your computer, then installed checkbox and later upgraded your computer to Ubuntu 14.04?
checkbox-gtk is a package that is not maintained anymore. For the time being, we provide a textual ui (checkbox-cli), and we are working on a new release of checkbox that will work on different platforms (checkbox- converged). In your description you mentioned that you uninstalled, then re- installed checkbox and that fixed the issue. Can you use checkbox now?
