Sorry about that, I was using the link for "Herd 5" at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ which I assumed to be the most recent.
I downloaded and installed the version from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/current/ and could still not connect to wireless networks. It continues prompting for the password but does not connect. I tried with and without "pci=routeirq" in the boot line.
