Hi, I have no display issues with any programs.
Thanks for looking at this, but I have since installed the Arduino IDE manually from the arduino.cc website and no longer use the version from the Ubuntu repo so I have no follow up to this old bug. I would assume that most people use the more up to date version from the website rather than the version in the repo because the version info in the repo does not correspond to the arduino IDE's proper version number so there is no way of knowing what you will get if you install from the repo...
