@Alexander: I will try the latest Gutsy, but I had to install it for testing. For the test I had to visit a coffee house where the specific problem has occurred first. All I can say now, that I can connect seamlessly to my Linksys router with open wireless network. I hope that I can confirm this at the coffee house too.
