This bug is driving me crazy for months now. I always hit "Alt-F2 and r" to make the mouse working again. But sometimes it occours within 5 minute intervalls for me.
Actually I'm on debian and gnome 3 (and I just googled for the symptoms coming here) I kind of suspect the nvidia graphic driver to be the issue, this desktop has an older card that was a pain to get working in the first place.
