This patch fixes the file rename crash on my system as well (thunar 1.6 .10git-87c2b0e and glib2 2.46.1-1). It also seems to fix the other intermittent crash when drag and dropping files/folders (https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11983 & https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12283).
Test briefly with both "Thunar --deamon" running and not.
