My drive was not formatted on the device, it was pre-formatted and worked fine. I have only tried this one but I know other users have said they are able to do this.
Re power issues that could be but hard to diagnose, perhaps the syslog would indicate something as the drive is mounted Re no files, did you enable full access from the menu in File Manager? If so then yes a bug against that app. The external drives app is indeed an issue and on the list to fix.
