This is tied to an Ubuntu bug as well (
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-power/+bug/1315434
), where mouse power is prioritized over laptop battery power. There is
a workaround for the prioritization issue, but the fact that it does not
update on battery discharge anyhow, is a huge issue.

I have encountered this on a ASUS laptop as well as an HP laptop, and it
occurs in the last 2 Freya updates.

Many people have attempted to document workarounds (Google), like manual
resets tied to CRON jobs, but nothing is a permanent fix.

Prioritizing mouse battery (which takes 8-18 months to discharge) over
laptop power (which discharges in 2-8 hours) is a huge, HUGE (yes, all
caps) issue IMHO. It effectively renders laptop installs of elementary
as "crippled." And when all of my laptop batteries repeatedly runs out
of power, despite saying 80%, it makes elementary OS for portability
with laptops untenable.
