I can not reproduce this with mutter(Gnome-Shell) or metacity (Gnome- Flashback) session. However it is reproducable metacity(compiz) session. So I am thinking it has something to do with compiz. Under metacity compiz session clicking on window button doesn't affect its size, but dragging on double clicking on the titlebar does.
