I'm having the same issue. Looking at the nvidia-glx.postrm in
/var/lib/dpkg/info shows that it is trying to revert back to the
xlibmesa version of the Open GL libraries, however they are currently
owned by nvidia-glx-new.

Perhaps the attached patch can fix this - by checking if the files are
owned by nvidia-glx?
