About this particular issue, it is already known, see bug #131611.

** Description changed:

Gusty install install (amd64) fails to install on a HP dv5020us. The
problems were not detected with the default feisty install.

- Problems:
- - After selecting the boot option the usplash screen seems to have the wrong
resolution. The progress bar is shifted to the right and not flush underneath
the Ubuntu logo, like in feisty.
- - After loading kernel and init, X fails to start. The screen flashes 3
times, then the wallpaper is being displayed, flashes one more time and the
Gnome menu appears, flashes one more time and the desktop icons appear, then
the screen freezes.

This problem appears with the standard install. When choosing the "safe-
mode" install, X won't start either.

The graphic chipset is an ATI Xpress 200M.
