Confirmed on a fresh install of Gusty Beta, with all updates as of 9/29. mattz: System --> Preferences --> System Beep (this should have been disabled by default; that ugly beep is positively *archaic*)
Donnie Pennington: I confirm your statement as well afonic: I do not confirm your solution; enabling the splash screen did not fix the problem for me (yes, I followed all your steps). This should be a high priority, as TJ said, because the Ubuntu experience is crucial to its success in the desktop market.
