Public bug reported: Kernel errors on burning some iso files. The same files are burned correctly with InfraRecorder (GPL cdrecord based) under Windows on the same machine. Tested with different PC, same problems.
To get the ISO images download the Windows 10 iso images (with or without N) from the Microsoft site here (free): https://www.microsoft.com/it-it/software-download/windows10ISO I tested only the Italian version of Windows 10 - 64 bit (with or without 'N' - same problem). You can safely try without having to actually burn any DVDs since the "simulation" (laser switched off) gives the same error. Error description: for 64 bit iso images it goes well until 93% (off the top of my head ... I do not have the PC right here) then gives an error and aborts. Dmesg reports the reset of the sata bus (?) Italian 32 bit iso images also fail but on the start... or emits some serious messages on dmesg Tried even with an external USB DVD writer... reset of USB link instead of sata link ... :-( Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS 64bit 3.13.0-77-generic #121-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jan 20 10:50:42 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux ** Affects: dvd+rw-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1545869 Title: kernel bug on burning some type of iso files To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dvd+rw-tools/+bug/1545869/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
