@Matt Price Compositing _will_ be enabled by default. But Nvidia 3d driver will NOT be enabled by default.
So, at the first login, the restricted drivers manager pops up. It ask, "do you want to install NVidia driver?" User clicks yes. It installs, it asks for a reboot. User reboots. User will now login the 2nd time. Compositing is now already enabled. ========================================== Possible fix (but MAJOR HACK) Only on NVidia hardware: Make switching users go back to the login screen. This for some weird reason does works. (same as System -> Shutdown .. -> Switch User) Another thing: why enable the fast-user-switch thingie by default? Or better put: why show it when only one user is configured?
