So the gist of it here is (retried on a new install 340 drivers - gets an xorg.conf, boots to that totally worthless low graphics screen 361 (ubuntu), 361 & 364 from ppa - no xorg.conf created, if xorg.conf is already there it's mv'd, boots to a greeter loop 358 from ppa - 1st. reboot from install fails or low graphic's nonsense, subsequent boots do work. However that exposes some other issue -
With 358 when arriving at the greeter any attempt to enter password causes a total system lockup. One has to just do nothing at all on the greeter screen, after about 6 sec's something crashes (xorg?), you go to a tty that prints about recovering inodes, ect. After a couple of seconds the greeter reloads & at that point a password can be entered & a login is successful. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1565516 Title: Fails with skylake & nvidia 940m, removes xorg.conf boot up/log in fail To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-drivers-common/+bug/1565516/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
