Something similar happened to me but after I tried upgrading to Gutsy from Feisty. It was installing the packages for the upgrade when it came up with a "Could not install upgrades" error, and it says "The upgrade aborts now. Your system could be in an unusable state. A recovery will run now (dpkg --configure -a). Please report this bug against the update-manager package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bug report. installArchives() failed." This was in a pop up box. Now I can't even run the update anymore.
